DNB Theory Bulletin Board
Join the Conversation: Explore, Share, and Evolve the Future of Dance Notation and Laban Studies on the DNB Theory Bulletin Board
DNB Theory Bulletin Board was first established in 1999 as an online forum for exchanging ideas, questions, and insights about Labanotation and Motif Notation. Originally hosted on the Dance Notation Bureau (DNB) website, the bulletin board provided a space for Labanotation practitioners, scholars, and educators to discuss the finer points of notation, share new developments in the field, and seek clarification on complex topics. In 2010, the forum transitioned to Blogspot, where it continued to serve as a platform for ongoing discussions and the sharing of resources. Over the years, the bulletin board has fostered collaboration among notators, allowing for the free exchange of ideas and encouraging the community to engage in the continuous evolution of dance notation.
Now, the DNB Theory Bulletin Board is being gradually moved back to the DNB website, where it will continue to function as an active and evolving forum. It remains a vital resource for those interested in Labanotation and Motif Notation, offering a space for professionals and newcomers alike to discuss the technical aspects of notation, explore new ideas, and raise questions. The board plays a crucial role in supporting research, clarifying notation practices, and promoting dialogue between notators and the broader dance community. As an ongoing forum, it ensures that Labanotation remains a dynamic and accessible tool for dance documentation and analysis, continually adapting to the needs of the community.
