Teacher Certification Course
The Labanotation Teacher Certification Course (TCC) equips educators with certification to teach Labanotation at the Elementary level and promotes the integration of Labanotation across various curricula.
Currently, the two-week intensive TCC workshop is offered through the DNB via special arrangement.
Upon completing the course, candidates are certified to teach Labanotation at the Elementary level. They may upgrade to Intermediate certification by fulfilling the requirements of the DNB’s Intermediate Certifying Exam and completing the Intermediate Course Assignments, available from the DNB, without the need for additional coursework.
PREREQUISITES FOR THE COURSE:
Candidates are admitted to the course based on demonstrated excellence in Labanotation at the Elementary level, which includes:
- Successful completion of the DNB Certifying Examination at the Elementary level
- Successful completion of Elementary Labanotation Assignments I-X
- Successful completion of a course in Motif Notation or Language of Dance®
Additionally, candidates must demonstrate knowledge of teaching methods through:
- A minimum of 45 hours of teaching experience
- Successful completion of a course in pedagogy/teaching methods
- A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with their teaching.
