Notator Training Course
The DNB offers a comprehensive professional training course spanning two semesters.
Designed to cultivate notation speed and proficiency, the course provides hands-on experience in notating a diverse range of dance techniques and imparts essential skills for creating a dance score. The first semester concentrates on ballet, while the second delves into modern dance. Classes are held several times a week, encompassing lectures, reading sessions, and practical notation exercises. The schedule varies weekly, with notation practice sessions held at various dance studios across New York City. At the culmination of each semester, students undertake a project, offering them firsthand experience in a real rehearsal setting. Upon completion of coursework, students must present a certifying score evaluated by a Board of Examiners.
