DNBulletin
DNBulletin was a publication from the Dance Notation Bureau, first launched in 1997 and published through 2005, with a second run from 2007 to 2010.
The bulletin served as a key resource for the dance community, providing news, updates, and insights related to the work of the Dance Notation Bureau and the broader world of dance notation. Each issue featured a variety of content, including announcements of new acquisitions, interviews with prominent figures in dance notation, reports on events, and highlights of significant research projects. The publication also covered the work of the DNB Extension at Ohio State University, showcasing its educational and scholarly contributions to the field of dance documentation. With contributions from experts in the field, the DNBulletin bridged the gap between the worlds of live performance and dance preservation.
Dedicated to promoting the understanding of dance as a written art form, the DNBulletin aimed to raise awareness about the importance of dance notation in preserving choreography and movement for future generations. It offered readers a platform for exploring the ways in which dance notation, particularly Labanotation, contributes to the preservation, teaching, and reproduction of dance works. Through its diverse range of articles and features, the DNBulletin fostered a deeper connection between notation and performance, encouraging dialogue on the critical role of documentation in dance history. Although no longer in publication, the back issues of the DNBulletin remain a valuable resource for scholars, dancers, and researchers interested in the history and evolution of dance notation.
