16 pairs of men and women dancing, 8 men carrying transports, sedans. Acting: 2 boys, Romeo, Mercutio, Benvolio, Tybalt, Lord Capulet, Rosalind, Paris, Rosalind’s woman friend.

Costume Information

All costumes are based on Quattrocento paintings of the 1400s in Italy. These include Gothic to Renaissance long gowns and men’s doublets with tights. Men wear boots; however, Romeo and his friends wear ballet slippers.

Guests wear capes and masks. Tybalt, Rosalind, Lord Capulet,Rosalind’s woman friend, the 2 boys, and the pole carriers do not wear either a cape or a mask.

Lighting Information

Props Information

Two transports consisting of chairs flanked by 2 poles, allowing the passengers to be carried (sedans). Tybalt carries a rose. Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio carry mandolins.

Set Information

Dancers are outside the Capulets’ estate. The backdrop is a wall with an entrance to the estate centerstage.
